In the Glass at Més de Vi: Summer Wines

Selection of Testuan wines available on the Més de Vi wine list in Barcelona

There are wines that seem made for summer. Crisp whites, sparkling wines that invite you to raise a glass, refreshing rosés or light-bodied reds that are also delicious when served slightly chilled. At Més de Vi, we enjoy pairing every moment with the right wine, which is why we have selected a range of bottles that are especially well suited to the warmest days of the year. Discover some of our favourite summer wines and find your next glass.

What Makes a Wine Perfect for Summer?

When we think of summer wines, the first things that usually come to mind are very cold white wines or light rosés. However, there is no single style that defines a wine for this time of year. What really makes the difference is the balance between freshness, acidity, aromas and the ability to complement food without feeling heavy.

That is why, alongside whites and sparkling wines, there are also rosés full of character and even light-bodied reds that, when served at the right temperature, are perfect for lunch, an outdoor dinner or a long afternoon around the table.

At Més de Vi, we like working with wines that express the character of both their grape variety and their place of origin. The selection below features six different wines, all with one thing in common: each one invites you to enjoy summer, one glass at a time.

Nanu de Testuan: The Freshness of Pansa Blanca

Nanu de Testuan is a white wine made from Pansa Blanca grapes grown in a vineyard in Santa Maria de Martorelles, on the area's distinctive granitic soil known as sauló. After fermentation, it spends five months ageing on its lees in stainless steel tanks, with weekly bâtonnage. The result is a wine that combines freshness with enough texture to accompany an entire meal.

Its moderate 11.5% alcohol content and the naturally fresh character of Pansa Blanca make it an excellent way to start a summer lunch. It works well as an aperitif but really shines alongside fish, seafood, vegetables and Mediterranean dishes where the wine enhances the food without overpowering it.

At Més de Vi, we would recommend it for lunchtime or for anyone looking for a light white wine that still has enough structure to accompany several courses. It is one of those summer wines that is enjoyable from the very first glass and keeps delivering throughout the meal.

Castellroig Brut Corpinnat: Bubbles for the Whole Meal

Castellroig Brut Corpinnat, produced by Sabaté i Coca from Xarel·lo, Macabeo and Parellada grapes, combines fine bubbles with fruity and floral notes and a fresh finish. Its balanced profile makes it enjoyable at the beginning of a meal while also being versatile enough to stay in your glass as each course arrives.

In summer, sparkling wines are especially appealing thanks to their lively acidity and refreshing bubbles. In this case, however, we are not simply talking about a wine for toasting. Castellroig Brut has the versatility to pair beautifully with tapas, salads, fish, seafood or rice dishes.

It is an excellent choice for a shared meal, a celebration or a dinner where everyone wants to sample different dishes. It also works perfectly as an aperitif while deciding what to order. Among this selection of summer wines, it is the ideal choice for those who want to begin with bubbles and enjoy them throughout much of the meal.

Pincerna Fáfila Pétriz: An Albarín with Freshness and Body

Pincerna Fáfila Pétriz is made exclusively from Albarín Blanco grapes grown in vineyards located around 740 metres above sea level in Gordoncillo, León. It ferments in French oak barrels and spends between nine and ten months ageing on its lees, developing a richer texture while retaining the grape's natural acidity. On the nose, it offers aromas of apple, pear and delicate pastry notes.

This is not the typical white wine reserved only for aperitifs. It has greater body and is designed to accompany more substantial dishes. The winery recommends serving it at around 12 ºC with fish, rice dishes, cheeses, cured meats and even meat.

In summer, it is especially well suited to a fish lunch, a rice dish or a meal built around sharing plates. It is a great option for those looking for a fresh white wine with more depth and structure. It is also an excellent choice for dinner, when the temperature drops and a more gastronomic white wine feels just right.

L'Apical Pararoques Ancestral: A Sumoll Sparkling Wine Worth Discovering

L'Apical Pararoques Ancestral comes from the Baix Penedès region and is made from Sumoll grapes grown at the Pararoques estate. It undergoes spontaneous fermentation using the grape's native yeasts and completes fermentation in the bottle following the ancestral method. Production is limited, and each bottle is disgorged by hand.

Compared with more traditional sparkling wines, this is a dry, straightforward wine with the distinctive red fruit character of Sumoll. Its lively acidity and bubbles make it especially enjoyable on hot days, particularly if you are looking for something different while still choosing a wine that is easy to share.

It works beautifully as an aperitif and pairs well with tapas, vegetables, cured meats or richer dishes, as its acidity refreshes the palate between bites. It is also an excellent bottle for a relaxed lunch or dinner with friends, where the wine naturally becomes part of the conversation. Among these summer wines, it is probably the most unexpected choice in the selection.

Pincerna Rosado Prieto Picudo: Fruit and Freshness for the Evening

Pincerna Rosado Prieto Picudo is made entirely from the native Prieto Picudo grape in the León Designation of Origin. It displays aromas of strawberries, raspberries and other red fruits, alongside floral and citrus notes. On the palate, it offers vibrant acidity, a smooth texture and the subtle bitter finish that characterises the variety.

This combination of fruit and freshness makes it especially enjoyable during the summer months. It can be served before lunch but also has enough personality to accompany salads, fish, white meats, legumes or grilled dishes.

It is an excellent choice for lunch, although its perfect moment may come later in the day, when a chilled glass before dinner feels especially inviting. It also pairs well with a table full of different dishes, moving effortlessly from lighter flavours to more intense ones. A rosé for those looking for something more than a simple fruity glass of wine.

Picapedra Negre Trepat: A Red Wine That Also Belongs to Summer

Not all summer wines have to be whites, rosés or sparkling wines. Picapedra Negre, made exclusively from Trepat grapes in the Conca de Barberà Designation of Origin, proves that a young, light-bodied red can also be an excellent choice when temperatures rise. This variety naturally produces fresh, fruit-forward wines with lively acidity and moderate alcohol.

Picapedra offers aromas of raspberry, cherry and forest berries, complemented by delicate spicy notes. On the palate, it is fresh, with soft tannins and a structure that allows it to be served slightly chilled without reaching the temperatures usually reserved for white wines.

It is particularly well suited to a summer dinner with cured meats, white meats, grilled dishes, rice or more flavourful tapas. It also allows red wine lovers to continue enjoying their favourite style without the glass ever feeling too heavy. At Més de Vi, we would recommend it to anyone who usually prefers red wine and does not want to give it up during the warmer months.
