Wine pairing dinner Herència Altés: five Garnachas, one same land

Wine pairing dinner dedicated to Garnacha at Mes de Vi

Garnacha, with all its diversity of skins, colors and accents, was the protagonist of a special night at Més de Vi. On October 9, the restaurant became a small Mediterranean plateau with a Terra Alta accent, thanks to a wine pairing dinner in which the Herència Altés wines found their best travel companion in seasonal cuisine.

A personal look at Garnacha

Núria Altés —founder of the project together with Rafael De Haan— visited us to present each of the selected references in person. Daughter of winemakers, a winemaker herself, she spoke of Garnacha not as a variety, but as a way of life. Each glass served to translate a landscape: altitude, calcareous soil, Mediterranean breeze, and a philosophy that bets on organic farming and respect for the natural rhythm of the land.

The sequence of wines, all single-varietal and under the DO Terra Alta, was a journey through different expressions of Garnacha: white, black and tintorera. From the aromatic tension of Benufet 2024, served with Delta oyster, to the enveloping sweetness of Verema Tardana that closed the evening accompanying some angel hair jam pastries, the tasting grew in complexity and emotion.

Pairing with landscape

The Més de Vi kitchen team designed a tailor-made menu, taking care not only of the harmony between dishes and wines, but also of the link with the territory. Local ingredients appeared such as Reus hazelnuts, roasted eggplant, confit lamb, Delta tuna… Each one chosen to dialogue with the nuances of Garnacha.

One of the most commented proposals was the reinterpretation of La Clotxa, a traditional Terra Alta dish, which appeared unexpectedly but precisely, paired with La Pilosa 2022, a Hairy Garnacha with an elegant rusticity.

More than a tasting

What made this wine pairing dinner special was precisely what cannot be measured: the conversation that arose among the attendees, the closeness with Núria, the unhurried pace of the service, the respect for seasonality and the taste for small details.

Herència Altés not only brought wines; it brought a story that resonated at every table. A way of understanding wine as a vehicle of identity, and Garnacha as a common language between glass and glass.
